The real problem

"Claude doesn't have a writing problem.
You have a briefing problem."

Every time you open Claude without a configured skill, you start from zero. No context. No standards. No voice. That's why the output is inconsistent, not because Claude is bad at writing.

And why 100 prompts won't fix it.

The signs your
AI system is broken

Tick the ones that apply. These aren't Claude problems — they're infrastructure problems. And they all have the same fix.

01
Every session starts from scratch

You re-explain your brand, your audience, your tone. Every single time. Claude doesn't know who you are, and it shows.

02
Your team can't reproduce your results

You found a prompt that works. But when a colleague uses it, the output looks nothing like yours. Your expertise isn't transferable.

03
Claude writes in its voice, not yours

The copy is fluent but generic. It sounds like Claude. It doesn't sound like your brand. You rewrite most of it anyway.

04
You're re-prompting more than you're publishing

Half your time goes to nudging, refining, correcting. AI was supposed to save time. Right now it's adding steps.

05
Claude invented something that wasn't true

A stat. A claim. A name. It was fluent, it was confident, and it was wrong. You're not sure how to stop it happening again.

06
Your Claude usage hasn't scaled

You use it for one-offs, not systems. There's no library, no version control, no workflow. It's still a chatbot, not infrastructure.

You recognised 0 of 6 symptoms. The fix is £19. →

Stop building prompts.
Start building skills.

A Claude skill is a structured, reusable set of instructions that makes Claude reliably perform a specific task to a defined standard. It's the difference between a one-off request and a permanent briefing.

Skills have five components: role definition, input specification, output specification, guardrails, and examples. Build all five and Claude performs like a specialist contractor who already knows your brand, your audience, and your standards, every time, for anyone on your team.

The book delivers the methodology to build skills, and 42 production-ready ones you can deploy today.

The anatomy of a skill 5 components
Role Definition
Who Claude is for this task. Not "helpful assistant", but specific domain, stance, and relationship. This calibrates expertise and vocabulary.
Input Spec
What the user provides each time. Required vs optional. What Claude does when inputs are missing or incomplete.
Output Spec
Exact format, structure, length, required elements. The more specific, the more reliable.
Guardrails
What Claude must never do. Don't invent data. Flag uncertainty. These are what separate a good prompt from a professional skill.
Examples
One strong input→output demonstration. More effective than three paragraphs of instruction. Shows what "right" looks like.

42 skills. 10 disciplines.
One complete system.

Every skill is immediately deployable into your Claude Projects. No setup beyond copy-and-configure.

// 03

Three End-to-End Workflows

New product launch (8-week workflow), ongoing content engine (cyclical), and customer intelligence loop (data-triggered).

From the authors
"The 42 skills in this book emerged from real client work: building marketing systems that teams actually use, breaking them, fixing them, and refining them through hundreds of real inputs and real outputs. The methodology is tested, not theorised."

Questions

Do I need a paid Claude plan? +
Claude Pro ($20/month) is required to access Projects, which is where skills live. Most of what the book teaches requires Pro or above. The book covers plans in detail in Chapter 2. Haiku and free-tier Claude work for testing; they won't support a full team skills library.
Is this relevant if I already use ChatGPT? +
The skills methodology is transferable: the five-component framework works on any LLM. But the book is specifically written for Claude: the deployment contexts (Projects, MCP connectors, Cowork), the model tiers, and the worked examples are all Claude-native. If you're considering switching, the book will accelerate that decision.
How technical do I need to be? +
No coding required for anything in the book. Skills are written in natural language and deployed through the Claude interface. There is an API chapter for teams who want to automate at scale, but it's context, not a technical manual.
How quickly can my team start using the skills? +
The skills in the prompt library are formatted for immediate deployment. Read Chapter 8 (deployment contexts), set up a Claude Project, paste in the first skill with your brand context, and you're running in under an hour.
What if Claude releases a new model: do the skills still work? +
Model updates can occasionally drift skill behaviour: a new model may interpret instructions slightly differently. The book covers this: the skill design checklist includes quarterly testing against benchmark inputs. The book covers how to test and update your skills when this happens.
One more thing
